Default 6.2 mpi

Hopefully this is an easy question. Can a 6.2 mpi bolt up to an old vp280? I'd like to get the reliability of a modern engine into my old chris craft and keep the performance of the original 350.

Thanks,

David

6.2 can if the correct engine coupler was used and make sure the input shaft going into the coupler is the correct length.

Good point, thanks for bringing that up. It's definitely a two piece block going to one piece. I'll have to look into that.

Where's the starter located on the mpi? Volvo is bottom right as you're looking at it.

I/O's were bottom form Stock Merc apps and some inboards and or ski boats could have top mount starters - also depends on how much clearance there is from bilge to bottom of engine - hence one of the reasons for top mount starters. Have no idea what app your 6.2 was in nor how your older Volvo was set up. Volvo had top mount starters mounted in some apps as well.

Looks like I'm good to go as far as starter locations are concerned.
