Need advise and Propellers for Arneson ASD 8 25 spline
I need a set of props for ASD 8 surface drives, maybe 18" x 28 pitch, 30 or 32 Rolla type with 25 splines.
Building aluminum boat 42' twin step, 12,000lbs, Cummins QSB 6.7 550HP - 1250 ft/lb torque, 1:19 ZF 280 gears
I am spunging information on set-up, would appreciate any help!

Yes, I called Rik at Arneson, he was very helpful. I am looking for a deal on a set of used rolla or other 15 spline ASD-8 propellers so I can establish a performance base line.
I am also looking for advise from boaters with experience on Arneson drives with high torque diesels. I have never owned a boat with surface drives so I need all the helpful advise I can get

1) contact Brett at BBlades - very helpful assessing prop needs in terms of specs
2) Did you inquire about the update with Rik regarding changing your shafts to the SSM #6 spline from the old Rolla - would open up an entire world of prop selection to you

I am in the process of a similar build, although due to limited time in the US the progress has been slower than I would have liked.
Arneson is probably the only option you can go with, I changed my #6 over in favor of Arnesons my diesels make anywhere from 800-1000hp and tons of torque.
I copied the setup off another diesel boat that ran 110 with Arnesons and the same motors with less power although my gearbox's ratios are different to yours.
ZF 305 with an overdrive ratio 0.86-1 giving me a prop speed of 3600 rpm
No issues I have used Arneson on many high performance boats without any problems at all, just do the lube once a year and forgot about them and go boating.

Here are a few of my worries:

Are you running your 800-1000HP diesels with ASD-8's?
Are you guys throwing propeller blades on your suface drives?

Yes I am running mine with ASD8s but overdriving the gearbox so output is faster than the input.
This reduces the torque input to the drive increasing prop speed as well as giving you access to a grater selection of props.
I wouldn't worry about the ASD8s torque rating you wont break them.

So happy, must share: Received my Arneson ASD-8 drives yesterday,everything appears to be in great shape. I also received a perfect set of (used only once) 18"x28" Kiekhafer props I bougt on Ebay for $ 1500.-
Does everyone use the ventilation tubes?
