Default bigger oil filter for 6.2l Merc engines

Hi all,
I am surprised that the merc 6.2l MX engine(2014 in this case) have a 4.5 quart oil pan and no oil cooler.

The thought of adding a larger oil filter entered my mind to add a little capacity....heck, if you added 0.5 quart, you increase the the capacity over 10%.

Anyone done this, and if so, what filter would be good....and is it ok to then overfill a little as the oil would drain back as soon as you start the engine? Or, is there a check valve that prevents drain back, so you simply have to fill to the dipstick after a little run time.

Thanks!! !

I use the big ass Mobil 1 one. The big thing to keep in mind when checking the engine cold...your dipstick is going to read very high. My "normal" is on the OK.

Even with a stock filter, my 400 hp modded 6.2s and a cooler with that small oil pan still keeps my oil temp right where it needs to be.

What about this one? It is 7.8" tall, so should hold even more oil. Not cheap.....but what is? Also don't know if there is enough clearance to have this due under the hatch.

Would add 0.58 quart to the system based on the stock short one.
