you guys are using one of these? http://smile.amazon.com/Smith-Contra...s=pump+sprayer
I have the hand pump that fits the 2.5 gal bottle and it takes about 80 pumps to fill a drive and bottle.

These and I do not use anything else - I have them all - from Kerr to CDI to the ones you use compress air. Actually CDI is pretty good. I would buy that as well for using it a couple times a week but during boating season - below I use everyday min..

Ayuh,...... I converted a Chapin metal tank 1gal. pump sprayer into an outdrive fill-can years ago,....
Put a little ball valve on the end of the hose, a short clear piece of tubin', 'n a metal fill plug salvaged from a qt. pump bottle pump found in a dumpster,....
Works Great,....

Thanks BUP, and great procedure. I figured everyone removed the vent to drain and thus would fill to this and then install vent, and then continue. Doh.

For those that do it themselves,
Get the metal fill swivel adapter from Sierra. It used to be from MAllory MArine. Much better than the POS plastic fittings.

while we are talking about this...I to have been thru several of those plastic POS pumps, and was thinking(scary I know) what if you had two people, one at drain, other in boat, remove lower plug and keep adding 3 qts fluid in as it drains ?? anybody ever try that ?

You guys like hard labor.

Buy a 12V transfer pump so you can pound a 6 pack while waiting for the drives to fill. This also works for draining your engine oil.

Outdrives are filled from the bottom, so there can't be an air bubble,....
