Good oil thermostats??
What are guys running for oil stats? I had a hard time getting oil temps up last season, I am going to add stats, I was looking at these but want to make sure they flow ok,

Tim I've searched before and never seen these but like them. Particular the port labeling. The merc ones I have are nice but bulkier and aren't labeled so if you have a little abc going on like myself it's easy to get mixed up especially if your not dealing with them daily. So ya if anyone have used these chime in. They look nice...

Ps you'll prolly get temps up this year with that extra 500 plus rpm you'll be running. Without a doubt I truly believe stats are a must my last boat I couldn't build heat without coolers but they were stockers.

I installed a "Mocal" thermostat last year. I think I paid just under a hundred bucks. I have no complaints with it even tho I only put 4-5 runs on it. My oil wouldn't get any warmer than 140 without it. I had "cheese" build up in my valve covers and up the dipstick tube. After install no more moisture build up. Still takes a while to warm up but it gets to about 170 ish while cruising and hits about 190 while running hard

It has more to do with the air temp in the motor than the oil temp the same way a bathtub doesn't need to be boiling to create steam. The water has very little to do with the oil itself other than it occupies the same place, but the oil does need to not cool the air so much that it begins to absorb water.

I really need oil temp. Gauges next. Does anyone have a better sender location than installing in the oil pan? Definitely not pulling engines just to install senders. Running 1996 454 MerCruisers.
