I have a bunch of boats I work on that are from late 8o's and 90's that have a quazilion hrs on their OE Tbolt pickups...

Edit in: the pick up shown by Speedy above is the old style good one's. The newer one's have leads you need to crimp. Gone are the posts w/nuts.
And this is the reason Im looking for the original style,

I think this is an old one. Note: going off memory with part # but did not look up to double check.

You do not want the old style ignition sensor. The new ones come fully potted plus has its own separate ground (3 wire) with no exposed contacts at the sensor - very corrosion resistance made.

Merc is the only one who makes them in the USA others are from China and the potting is not as full plus some others have really bad potting process, It dry rots in short order from heat. The China ones.

I have then in stock and keep about 20 on hand thru out the year for anyone that needs them. All OEM Merc because they are the better quality than anyone else for this sensor. Plus made here in the USA. Again you want the newest ones plus watch what you buy online.

Merc thru out the years have Service bulletins about some that easily went bad in short order. Any electrical part that has been sitting around for years and years I would not buy. How well was it stored .is my thoughts over time ???

So a new one from Mercury is a quality product but stay away from the aftermarket?

Yes telling straight up Merc this part is better quality than others -- they make it in their owned plant located in the USA. I am talking about the ignition sensor assembly in all T bolt IV and V apps.

Non merc aftermarkets ign, sensor assembly come from China and of I recall Taiwan. Ebay full of these. Yes 10 to 25 buck cheaper than OEM Merc part but really ? Most of the time you get what you paid for cheap price ignition parts. Junk.
