whats wrong with no re tune and trying to match the outdated injectors with the newest current offers ? I want to give that a try first and foremost and cost is not as expensive as one would think.

Nothing special that a 525 uses to begin with and If anyone has a new set out of the box I would flow test and post the results for FREE I would like to see if they come balanced or not ?? I bet they don't.

If you have a vortech on it the 500 stock injectors get too small quickly as they are in 36/38 lb range. 38 x 8= 304lbs per hr, at .5 bsfc thats about 600 hp maxed out. I wouldn't bother trying to find a set of injectors that match the flow of the stock ones, just buy a set of ev-1 high impedance 48 lb , 55 lb or 60/63 lb standard, holley or siemans deka, then tune it using strictly pw instead of raising fuel pressure , they bolt right in, i have done this several times . I just bought two match flowed 63lb per hr sets to go on my own 500efi project, if you need any help finding right ones pm me, Smitty

Five 0 fuel injection carries new delphi 45lb injectors in the correct impedence for the delco and motorola control units . And they are one third of the price of the exact same injector from mercury.they are in Yorba Linda california.
John i still have 2 brand new ones in hand if you want to run them through the spin cycle some time . As well as a set of russ collins reworked 502 injectors.

Still buying the same injector that can put you back into the same situation down the road plus I would like to get a current offering instead of a saturated 1990 designed injector. The reason they are remaned from other sources is because they have not been made in like 20 years. .

. Hopefully I will have a direct cross - plus a current injector for a 100 bucks MAX but very likely less money than a C note. Should know something less than 2 weeks from today.

Bosch injectors currently are good and I would have no problems running them in anything. Matter of fact we are going to use them in the 665 and they will come balanced already to us.

The stock 500 EFI uses 36 lb injector and keep in mind injector dead times is very important. you can still have injectors that lists the same volumes and so on, but injector dead time means a lot as well -- this is one of the reasons they are getting sent off.

How long it takes for the injector itself to open and close are not the same between crossing brands and other brands of injector manufacturers period. This effects a lot not to go into great lengths about it. Learn about injector dead times and you will see why not to cross injectors unless it has been tested for a direct replacement.

If the ECM / PCM was getting a retune then by all means a paperwork cross referenced injectors would work perfectly using a great tuner.

NOT saying thee experts opinions are here in this corvette forum I listed below but they really have some solid info. Paper Weights is really what it boils down to. So for anyone to suggest using the same injector - use with warnings or please post your experience with fuel injectors so we can learn something. Saying this as a positive because this is not new to me the problems for the Multec injectors. I would never use Multecs in anything. Again why they have not been made in 20 years. They are problem childs waiting to happen

Keep in mind I believe this corvette forum cleaning injectors was still in the engine not on a machine / flow bench machine. But still it does not matter - the coils become the problem - kind of like a 25 year old flickering lite bulb - you can fix the that

I would add that Merc has used various injectors from several vendors over the years, including Kehein (think Honda). I've mentioned it before only as an additional source of replacement injectors but RC Injection in Torrance helped me out immensely.

Merc using different injectors with their calibrated ECM beforehand -- sure there is ^^^^ - Plus room availability to have installed in the set up designs. ie fuel rails / intake and so forth.

I just did the 454 / 502 Kehein injectors --- 16 of them - maybe that owner of them can come up here post hopefully, They are not as bad as the Multecs by no means but they have a inherent problem that I discovered in which is fixable even by myself. These were the early injectors used in the 1993 thru 1995 or 1996 Merc big blocks. MPI
