Default Merc fuel filters

The other day week I changed my fuel filter in the fuel injected boat. While cleaning out the garage I found another one both different part numbers they look identical. At this point I am not shure which one is in the boat . Is there a differance between FI fuel filters and carbed ones? Also but not positive seems with the new filter there is alot less transom soot.

The only way to decrease transom soot thru changing the fuel filter is to make the filter so restrictive it leans the engine!!! Not good! Use the Merc number and then cross reference for a different manufacturer. Don't take chances!!
