Default SSM 3 what tranny to use

Hi Im on my way to put the boat together..I have a Bam tranny with tailstocks and an old one without..the driveshaft is to short for the nice Bam transmission, can i remove the tailstock.. enginge is mounted on 4 racing plates, so I guess the tranny dont need to "hang" on the inside transom.Or should I extend the driveshaft..used to run bravos, thats why Im asking all this..Do I mount the tranny on the engine and then install together..Thanks for the input

does the tailstock not fit the BAM tranny, or does it fit, but output shaft is different length? cuz the output shaft looks longer on the shorter tail trans, while shaft looks shorter on the TRS longer tail trans. and obvious next question; how much doing to change output shafts? edit; it looks in my velvet drive manual that the output shaft is the pinion carrier assy and is essentially a large part of the trans itself. and, unless I am seeing it incorrectly, the trans has to be disassembled out the front of the trans case and the shaft swapped. I am unsure if any re-shimming will be involved with this job. are you sure the correct trans is bad? those cases can get really ugly and have good internals in them. if you don't trust yourself to tear 2 apart and make 1, there are 2 choices. send them both to BAM or another of the very few people who work on these, or put the tailstock on and install it and see if it is good. one will cost a bit of labor money. the other is a coin toss...oh yeah. shipping from Denmark. there is a downloadable manual for the velvet drive if you do a little googleing. I think mine was free.

That shaft comes out. You just need to swap the shafts over
