As a kid I worked for a guy named Rorke Summerford. He designed and built the cab-over boat for one of the Mod-50 World champions in the mid-1970's. I worked in his shop in R&D and finish. He was trying to design a "better" Mod-50 boat when I worked for him. He would design, and redesign, and build and take apart, put together. We'd run it, come back do it all over again. I worked there a year, and that new boat with an innovative new tunnel design that was to be safer and faster wasn't perfected when I left, and don't know it ever was.
I see these plywood and extruded Aluminium behemoths of pontoon boats running well over the century mark and I can't figure out for the life of me how they don't blow over!!! That takes a certain kind of guts there!

The background music on the toon video is classic. We saw the owner of the toon run at LOTO Shootout and it's impressive. Running in the same event as million dollar plus 200mph boats and the toon pass get's more water cooler talk then all of them, that's cool.

Not triple digits, but Lightning Jet has a tritoon with a couple big outboards on the back... we have embarrassed a few people as we pass by in the 60s with 13 people on board..... Thing is solid as a rock at that speed and has run in some surprisingly lumpy water, not huge but pretty lumpy....
