Default 540 whipplecharged stalls coming off plane

have a 540 whipplecharged BBC. Runs absolutly great, for some reason this year it started stalling when you would come off plane. Pulling back on throttle easy, around 800-1300 rpm that's when it dies. It gives alittle spit or pop, like a misfire out the intake. Not sure if it's a fuel pressure issue, IAC , throttle blades not open enough??? Spark arrester blades are clean, IAC filter is clean. I have 28-30psi fuel pressure at idle and WOT. Aeromotive 1000 pump. After a stall it does re start right back up, no issues. Just not a good feeling when it stalls off plane. Any suggestions would be greatful, I'll be calling my engine builder on the weekend.

Thanks jason-

Why would you say it's a fuel filter issue if I have solid fuel pressure ?

Should be the set up that came with either the factory 525 merc or Whipples program. I swear the FP was suppose to be 58-60 psi with a whipple set up

I dont know of an EFI setup off hand that would run with 30 psi. Most are 58-60 like you said.

Checking/cleaing/replacing the filters is a good place to start for sure, especially since it didnt do this before.

Sounds like a lean pop to me. POP through the intake at any RPM usually means lean spot.

So, don't run it again until you get word on what fuel psi is supposed to be. Lean is mean, puts a torch on the pistons and likes to rattle things.

Your builder only works on week-ends ?
