can i use aluminum connecting rods in marine app. ? expected engine life is 100 hours.BB chevy

Aluminum Rods are good for 40 passes in NHRA pro stock cars.

1 pass = 7 seconds X 40= 4 min 40 seconds...

Use a high qaulity 4340 steel rod and fastener.

You can get more than 40 passes on a set of aluminum rods, but due to there stretch you would not want to run them in a marine appliaction. Titanium rods are A) not cost effective, and B) not something you'd want to run due to there tenslie strenth they can be brittle, and crack over time.

titanium would be good seat supports, billet switch panels etc. but not rods because the heating/cooling which would weaken them and make them brittle.
