Default Making of a Race Fairing (Formula 302) PART 2

Tried the templets from AudioFN's boat on mine, and our boats have different windshields, but the wings are similar. His deck under the wing is taller than mine, so the wing is higher above the rubrail on his. What do you think of the heigth of the wing on my 1985 Formula 302?

The templet is just proped up against the windshield. It is the white part under the glass that shows in the picture. I'm using this particular picture to try to show the whole boat. A closer-up picture is posted on the "Making of a Race Fairing (Formula 302)" thread.

Not sure man but I am thinking from this picture it needs to go a little higher. I figured there would be a picture up there of your wife modeling that new scarf you won her

She adores the scarf. In fact, yesterday I caught her looking in catalogs for coats that will match it even better.

It's tough to visualize with the old windshield in place. I'm thinking it might have to come off for you to get a real good look.

Olysan: You are probably right. It may be next Sunday before I get to do much work on it. Family in town now, Super bowl this evening, travel next week for work to support my habbit, sking with the boy scouts Sat, so it looks like Sunday.

Chart just my humble opinion, being a 302 owner . Given the style of your boat and the subtle differnces in your deck vs mine or Jon's I think your fairing needs to be a bit taller at least two inches where the wing meets the front. Again just my opinion . Regards Rick . By the way I emailed Jon some pics of a shifter pod I made for my boat maybe he can forward them to you so you might get some ideas from it.

Finally getting back to the faring project. Nice that there is nothing more urgent on the boat right now!

Trying to decide on the top of the faring. The attached picture shows it arched, similar to the arch of the deck.

I haven't determined if I want it to follow the deck arch, or be flat across the top to match the flat dash. What do you all think about it?

This one trys to show a horizontal black line on the arched faring, that follows the flat dash. I'm concerned that the line looks a reverse arch, with the ends looking higher than the middle.
