Cost is nothing, this cam can be bought for 40 bucks on e-bay.....shop around. Also www.competitionproducts.com has this cam.
o, by the way, power range didn't change much at all. His will rev to 5 grand easily. 96's don't have a rev limiter.
enjoy.!

Re: cam for 7.4 mpi ?
I have a 1999 7.4MPI.
I had another set of heads redone with double valve spring and bowl porting.
Swapped the cam, for the 454/502 HO cam. Had an ECU re-calibrated 3 times by AZ Speed. The stock calibration still worked best. I also changed the exhaust to Stainless marine.
Net gain was about 350rpm (to 4700) and 4mph with the same prop.
Then my timing set failed and the engine got all out of wack...
I put the stock heads and cam back on/in.
Still up 150-200rpm from stock with the stainless marine exhaust.
I think the 454mag cam would be a good upgrade. Probably a better choice than I made do to the fact you don't have to change the springs.
If you are looking for 35-40HP increase, 454mag cam, good exhaust, and ECU re-cal will do it. If you have the ECU recalibrated, only have the rev. limit changed from 4800 to 5200, the mixture is rich to begin with.
