Mercruiser I.T.S outdrive/transom assy

Does anyone have any positive or negative information regarding this new mercruiser hi-performance drive/steering?
How much would the 8 inch set back affect performance in a 4000lb 24 ft deep v boat. It is a nice looking system. Any input woulb be appreciated.

I have the ITS in a twin application and the steering is very smooth and tight. The extension will add some performance but I can't tell you how much on your boat, maybe a mile or two per hour. Mine is too new to give an opinion of reliability, someone else may be able to help with that. I know that is not a lot of info, all I know is that it is a nice clean system and looks great!

Quest, Thanks for your response. I am trying to figure out if that would be a good upgrade for both the XZ bravo and the I.T.S. system for around $4500.

I have the ITS and an XR on my boat. The steering works well and it looks "clean" from the back because no ram(s) are exposed, however if you are looking for more performance then I don't think the ITS will get you much.

I chose it over an add on hydraulic system when I had my boat built. I figured the cost was the same (basically) and I felt that the ITS would have slightly better resale value. If the set back gave me more performance that was just a benifit. Also since my boat had a 575 we could not have a notch in the transom with out putting a scoop on the hatch so the ITS worked in place of a notch in my case also.
