Advantage---counteracts the directional torque of the engine
Disadvantage---puts more stress on the top of the drive
Fountain does or did use left handed rotation props on their single engines.

On a single, it is plenty easy to shift weight around to "balance" against prop torque (usually by moving the battery).
I would think that if there were true advantages, that the 115 mph padvee Allison crowd would have figured it out and been doing it (they don't).

Formula does it with thier new 27 fastecs. they run a left hander, and also 1:65 ratio. I was wondering how my buddy was spinning a 28p bravo at 5250 with stock 502 until i looked at the ratio of the drive.
My boat leans to the left when cruising due to the right hander. i need to use some tab to straighten it out. it doesn't lean as bad with a 3 blade as it does with the 4 blade.
I haven't tried a Lefty yet to see if it leans just as bad in the opposite direction. I'll have to try that to see what happens.
