WPM Steering and latham cap??
i have a single engine checkmate and a bravo drive with a new style latham cap (there are 3 styles with different angles for clearance. the latest style appears to give most clearance).
i was looking to put on an add-on system. i have to opportunity to get a WPM ram, ends, and hoses for the add-on. i have measurements of the clevis end for the WPM ram, but it's hard to tell if the latham cap will provide proper clearance.
It seems when i will turn the drive in the opposite direction of the ram to its full turning ability, i could have a clearance issue on the inside (between the clevis end and the cap)....That is if the clevis end is allowed to rotate around the clevis bolt/pin. Does the end rotate when the drive is turned, or does the nut tighten so much that the clevis end is "sandwiched" and in a fixed position?
i know this is a long shot, but has anyone done this? or can someone tell me the best way to measure for clearance.

The clevis should be free to rotate. The bolt will tighten itself against the outside of the ears. My Lathem caps have a recess inside of the ears to allow clearance for the clevis stud/nut assembly to clear when turned fully. If you do not have the recess, I think you will need to use the tie rod end, not the clevis style. Just my guess??

what does the tie rod end look like? Are they they round ends with the hole in them vs. the square end of the clevis style?

Exactly.
Also, the tie rod ends have less travel than the clevis style. Not sure if to the point of where they will not work on some applications.
