Engine Rebuild?
I have a 1990 Baja 250 ES. 7.4/bravo 1
It started making a knocking noise and has metal in the oil. I don't want to spend anymore than I have to. I don't think I will keep this boat much longer. It cost me too much already, but I really don't see anyone wanting to buy it will an engine knock.
What is the best fix for this thing? I would like to get my engine rebuilt or put in a long block. I live in Fort Lauderdale. Where should I get this done?
Thanks

I feel that the best thing you can do in this case is find yourself a good used motor. There are alot of low hour " Take Outs" floating around. It may be a good time to upgrade to EFI while you are at it. It will only add to the resale value.

Bopp,
pm me and I can arrange for a very trustworthy hi-performance wrench to swap out your motor and install the new long block. No larg overhead to pay for and he is a first rate guy.

New motor
Try & buy local. Rebuilding is expensive, parts labor & machine work add up real fast. There are ton of takes outs laying around, just find a reputable marine mechanic to help. I bought an HP 500 from a fellow OSO member, he had it rebuilt & i bought it from him...it lasted 1 hour before it spun a rod bearing. I am in FL & he is in CA, shipping will bump up the $$$ Take your time & you'll find a deal.
Hope you have better luck than I did.
