Default Power steering pump

Anyone use a regulat automotive steering pump or do you pay the extra 3x for a marine?

I mentioned to a friend (marine dealer) that I would probably use a automotive and he says it wouldn't hold up. Is he bsing me? Even if it is not as good, I could by 3 with money left over for what he is selling the marine one for (and that's with him discounting it for me).

I changed out the pump only (not reservoir) to an automotive over the winter. It works great and was only about $30.

I did same thing as bt. I just bought a complete auto pump and removed the pump itself from the housing as I couldn't find one that had the same return hose configuration.

Well, stopped by to get the opinion from the guy who built and installed my motor. He said he must have a pump (automotive)around somewhere. Found one, swapped over the pully and installed this eve. If it works great if not he said just get a seal kit and he will rebuild the old one.
