Question Whipple Charger

Looking for some advice...have 509ci genV rebuilt with all good stuff...8.9:1 compression, ported/match GM iron heads, hyd roller cam 500hp. Is whipple charger simply a bolt on without rebuild required?

Any suggestions on carb, currently single holley 850.

Checkmate convincor 25' with upgraded TRS setup...boat only going 68mph with hydro 26 @4700rpm. Dart intake and 6"x20" keith eickert arrestor along with mild cam may be holding me back.

would you change cam, intake and prop or just go for the whipple and not waste time?

appreciate any advice.

tks.

Go with the Whipple. I put one on my 502 MPI and the results were more than expected. On my 27' Fountain, went from 69 mph to 85 on the gps speedo. The midrange pull is phenominal. You won't be disappointed.

Mark,

What year is your 27? And what other mods have you made? My 29 went from 75 to 84 with a Whippled 500 efi.

KC,

I had the heads done with Manley 2.25 severe duty intakes, 1.89 Inconel exhausts, CMI exhaust, Crane roller rockers. I'm running a 28 LH Hydromotive 4 blade at 5400 rpm. The outdrive is a Teague Platinum XR unit. I also installed a sea strainer to keep junk out of the intercooler. The intercooler is plumbed to a Innovative Marine shower so you can't tell the boat is supercharged by the telltale water flow out the side. No other mods to the engine.

Regards,

Mark S.
