Default Spark Problem

MERCRUSER THUNDERBOLT EGNITION AROUND 1985, THE MOTOR JUST QUIT AND WOULD NOT RESTART.PULLED THE PLUGS AND ROLLED THE MOTOR OVER CHECKING THE SPARK ON EACH CYLINDER,THEY GET SPARK BUT NOT ALL THE TIME ,SPARKS A FEW IN A ROW BUT THEN STOPS.HAS ANYNE HAD THIS PROBLEM I SUSPECT THE BREAKER IN THE DISTRIB ?

doesn't look like anyone nows about this !! its sounds like what you said but after almost 20 years who knows I'd install a new aftermarket system ,or keep bttt and using caps

Sounds like you have a Merc. T-Bolt IV system. If so, that symptom usually indicates bad module. Does it pop and fire but not really run? -- then that's it. --- Jer

Ya. it pops out the exhaust and the carb like it's flooded or the timing is off but never starts. By module you mean the dist. module? thanks.

The square box on the triangle-like alum. plate with plug in connector. --- Jer

Gary, thats a good chart. I did what it says and it should be the breaker in the distrib. I'll replace it and post what happens.
