Another idea is to verify with a digital thermal gun what the eng temp is compared to the gauge, I also know that if the temp sender is on the l/side of the motor of the t-stat housing it can read 10-20 degrees hotter, my motors read 180 on the left and if I switch the sender it drops to 160, it's the way the water flows.

the install was done correctly. the temp sender is located on the opposite side of the sender for the computer in the thermo. housing. so how could both gauges read wrong? or? the original performance report from fountain has the temp 175 port an 175 stbd so there is something f#$*ed up.
thanks gary
