steering poor at low speeds
I just purchased a '98 Hammer with a 7.4L and Bravo I drive. When in the no wake zone, steering is poor. To keep fairly straight, I must turn the steering wheel back and forth constantly.
Once out and in open water, steering is fine.
Is this normal with a 21ft boat or is there somethng I can adjust? I've played with the trim while in the now wake, but doesn't help much.
It's extremely difficult trying to line up with the trailor!
thanx.

The problem is not with the boat but with the driver! Just kidding, but you have the trim all the way in causing the bow to be pushed down. This makes the boat wander at low speeds. Trim the bow up a little (move the drive up) with the outdrive power trim. The trim tabs should be up also.

Do you have a fin on your zinc? I know they can cause some slow speed issues as well. All the Baja 240 sports that I have ever driven wander at slow speeds as well however.

Raising the drive a little helps a little bit. My 22' Bravo Scarab has the same problem. You may find that backing up is a pain too, again in this case raising the drive helps... a little
