Re-Rigging Power steering Banjo to Flair?
On my 47 Fountain I have the Banjo style power steering connector. On the new 500 EFI's there is a Flair fitting (I believe I have not taken it apart yet) Is ther an adapter to go from the banjo fitting to the flair? Anyone ever have to do this? I am looking for suggestiions.
Here is the Banjo end:

i bet if you go to a hydraulics shop where they make the hoses they can make either an adapter or a new hose for ya. I would go the new hose route and not worry about some "patch". Actually come to think of it, I think my local NAPA does hoses here...you may give them a try.

When I put my boat together, I remember buying a fitting like that from Latham. It wasn't an adapter, it was a new end for the hose that would connect to the power steering pump.

I went to NAPA They can make me a new hose but they have to order in the connectors. They cannot just put a different end on my hose, they have to use their hose.
I called Latham and "Ted" said they dont make an adapter but they did make a end but it goes on the diferential valve end not the pump side.
I may go to a tractor store next and see what they offer.

Ray, what is the number on the hose in the boat? If it is Aeroquip they do make the o ring style fitting, or else there is an o ring to flare adapter, then you put a flare end on the hose.
The pump should be a metric banjo fitting, all you might need is a banjo bolt and some crush washers.

you can get the banjo fitting from Lathem, for $36.81, or get adapter to convert from flare to metric o-ring, which I beleive the pump is. Check out Summit Racing, do a manufacturers seach,Aeroquip part #aer-fcm 2608.
That should be your pump fitting

I need to check this out further. I pulled the fitting off the 2001 Motor and it apperats to be a 5/8 inverted flair fitting. Similar to Aeroqiuip FBM-1382 I will check the 2003 Motors today. The hose is 3/8" But not aeroquip. I may have to get a whole new hose on both sides.
There is two fittings on the back of the pump. One goes in the case and the Flair fitting goes into the first fitting. (stacked) I am thinking if I remove the second "adapter" the case would be for the Banjo fitting but the pump mounting bracket would be in the way and not allow the Banjo fitting on the hose end to fit.
Still confused but I will get into it better today.

Ray,
I went through this last year and ended up with some type of 90* fitting because of the bracket clearance problem.
If you have a bit of time I could take a picture or better yet call Paul Everett he is the one that set me up!
