Default Yamaha what year??

By looking at this pic can anyone give me an idea what year this motor might be ? It's a 225 hp.

Does anyone have any experience with Yamaha's
I've heard they are great but want some real feedback from people that have owned them. Any help is appreciated

Thanks

all the guys i used to dive with in belize (central america) used yamaha eggbeaters because they found them to be far more reliable than any other outboard.

I'm guessing pre-1990

That's a pre-ProV motor if I remember correctly.

Excel... I would guess around 1986 or so.. Had some corrosion issues around the tiller arm (much like Merc), other than that no real issues come to mind.

I have 1994 200's on the center console. Only 500 hrs on it but they have been flawless. We have new HPDI's on the Dad's boat, they are awesome!

yep, around an 86 or so,biggest malfunction was all those motors used in salt would not come apart, there simple maintenence turned into hours having broken bolts removed....

Yeah, I've often wondered why they don't just weld aluminum motors together that are going to be run in salt. It would save on the cost of the fasteners and cutting the welds off with an angle grinder would be lots easier than snapping all the bolt heads off and vise-gripping the the shanks out after soaking everything in a bathtub full of CRC for a month...
