Default Perma Cool Oil T-Stats?

I remember there are some of you using them. Any drawbacks? Is plumbing them straight forward? Where do you buy?TIA, Berg

I've had no problems with mine either. Lost the instructions and turned to the board for help in plumbing it. Ended up with a line swapped and couldn't get any oil temps. Reversed the lines and it works great!

No problem with mine. If your oil cooler is just barely doing the job you may have trouble. There is a 10 percent bypass in the t-stat. In other words 10 percent of the oil will not see the cooler even when the temp is up.

BadDog-I think you have it reversed. I believe that when the t-stat is closed, 10% of the oil is passed through the cooler.

Cord,
Open/closed, cold/hot, the way I understood it from talking to someone at Perma Cool was that even when hot the thermostat will pass a small amount straight through and never see the cooler. Is it possible that the design of the valve passes 10 percent to the "other" side? In other words when cold 10 percent goes to the cooler and when hot 10 percent skips the cooler. If I had one to yank apart we would know!

Anyone know for sure?

I've wondered the same thing. My theory is that the valve doesn't seal and always leaks 10%. A nice way to cover your ass!

Have 2 - no problems.

Where did everyone else mount their's? I made a bracket that attaches to one of the motor mounts at the block, and then tie-wrapped it to that. Not ultra-professional looking - but it works.
