Default Leaking steering cylinder?

Pulled the boat 2 weeks ago and noticed steering
fluid leaking from the port side cylinder where the ram
goes in. Checked the fluid, it wasn't too low. Took it
out the other day and it hasn't leaked a drop since.
No its not empty. I did notice a lot of greasy soot on
the port side of the transom, so it was probably leaking
while I was running.
Any Ideas? Its going in next week to winterize, should
I pull it off and have rebuilt? If so where would I take it.
Thanks for any help. John
