Post new boater

I'm new to boating and recently purchased a 97 checkmate zt280 w/454 mag carb. I have been reading a lot of articles about k&n flame arrestors. I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of improvements I should see if I installed one in regard to hp, fuel economy and performance. Right now the boat will top out at 65. A guy at rex marine also told me a nose cone would help my top end speed. Is this true?

Save your money you wont gain anything unless you are making other changes to motor.you will only here the air flow a little louder in the engine compartment..

gslinger, I have the same engine in a 24' Baja outlaw. I bought a K&N arrestor for it last summer and the only difference I have noticed is a cleaner transom. It does look good, though. Andy

Cool

you picked a good hull; now you need some more horsepower to get you into the 70mph range, also have your prop labbed if you are within your rpm limit range!! BILL

I don't think a nose cone will do anything until you are in the 80's.
