Houston Propeller or Mercury Racing
Hey guys I need your up to date opinion on where to lab a pair of 27 Mirage Plus props for my 33 Baja Outlaw. Mercury Racing said my boat will not perform with the 4 blade bravo prop and they were absolutely correct. Lost about 8 mph 26 lab vs stock 27. The entire boat is riding to deep in the water causing a much rougher ride on Lake Ozarks. I can turn the 27's but prop blowout is horrible getting boat up on plane. Hoping labbing and tweaking can help me get on plane with the 27's.
Thanks for any suggestions

Mercury typically wants to do a stock lab job, which usually includes REDUCING cup on the prop (thereby reducing grip) to increase RPM's. Houston Prop will add cup or do whatever custom adjustments need to be done for your application. Just make sure you specify the new ACCELERATOR design.

Hey Greg,
I haven't had the opportunity to try out the props. I have a 4 blade hydromotive that Darin blueprinted which included adding cup to the blades for less blowout (typical of hydromotive/cleaver style) as well as taking 1/4 inch of diameter off the blade and thinning the blades as well. I was only at about 5100 RPM and want to be at 5300. He also reduced pitch by 1/2" as well. I'm hoping to be at 82 or 83 with this prop. I had 80 with a standard Bravo One 4 blade but it wasn't my prop so I'm trying to use the Hydros first before I switch.
The other "normal" prop I just sent to him as it touched rocky bottom a few times and was a little messed up. Needless to say it came back absolutely beautiful. I couldn't be more happy with the look of it and the price is VERY competitive.
