Re: Whipple
28,
Yep, it's a bummer but it could have been worse. No rust in the cylinders and nothing broken or bent. With only 76 hours on the engine I am leaving the bottom end alone.
This was also recommended by the rebuilder so it's only the top that's being done. They didn't pull in apart to check the rods or pistons, they check the stroke with a mic to see if the rods are bent and there was no water in the pan so--- here's hoping they are correct. It will probably be 2-3 weeks before it's done and I'm leaving the country for a while so it works out OK. I return July 22 and it will be ready to run then. I can't wait.

Re: Whipple
Good to hear your back together. I've had my own string of problems. My wife sucked up sand and overheated the engine, so I had to replace the water pump, shift cable, redo the heads(warped valves) and then I blew the drive coupler. So out came the motor to change it. Here's hoping we are both good to go. Time to drink beer!
hotlavey are you going to loto? If not we are making the haul to havasu the last week of Sept. and maybe we will see you there.

28, Aren't boats a ton of fun? If we didn't have them to spend our money on we might get ourselves into a ton of trouble. Actually I already am with the wife. "It costs HOW MUCH to fix the boat????"
I try to stay away from Havasu whenever possible. Far too much S___ happens there. Not at all like the old days.
I'll probably be up at Mead towards the end of Sept at the Lavey Regatta. Then maybe down to Parker. We'll see.
Sorry to hear about your problems but at least you can blame the wife. I couldn't.
I'll be trying the boat this coming Wed. in a small lake near here-Elsinore. It's a garbage can but I need to see if everything works.
Good luck to you and stay away from those sand-bars.
I'll have a cold one for you. You do the same.
