feels and sounds like the rear end is ready to go out.
when driving slow and turning slightly i here gears clunking and rear end binding. wierd part is it only does it after ive run it for awhile (30 miles on highway). removed rear inspection cover and everything looks fine. no metal in lube , gears looked ok.

If you have posi or limited slip use pennsoil gear lube it already has additive in it

to loosen it up.

It needs the additive ( whale oil). My dads truck was doing that. Drive down the freeway for a while and when you go to get off and start turning, the tires would bark, chirp and the rearend would grind. We put some limited slip additive in it and problem solved

Use the separate bottle of additive instead of the lube with the additive already in it. That way you can keep adding till its better.

As far as driving 8's. I usually leave one wheel on the ground and run it in reverse at idle for a minute - then swap wheels on the ground and do the same.

I had a a truck at my shop 2 weeks ago with a similar noise. I went through the same steps as previously mentioned. Still had the noise, but only when turning. It ended up being the trany mount. When there was a load, as in turning, the tranny would shift over making the u-joint bind, sending the noise down the drive shaft to the diff, making me think it was the gears or posi unit. well that was way to easy
added 2 tubes , went for a 30 ride , problem solved!

With limited slip you want to keep up on the oil changes. I would replace the gear oil at your next convenience. Do use the additive and not the type with LS additive already in it.
