Question 496 Leaking Antifreeze

Yesterday I checked on our ride to find that the port engine leaked all it's antifreeze into the bilge. It appears to have leaked right behind the heat exchanger. I am told that this is a common problem with 496's after about 1 year due to a defective seal. Has anyone experienced this too? If you have twins, did you just replace the other seal before it became an issue?

All info would be greatly appreciated.

Unhappy Leaks on a 496.

Randy,
A lot of people have experienced this. It seems as thought the cooler temps have aloud the seals around the heat exchanger to shrink slightly. We have replaced a fair share of them because of this problem. Some have seen that once they run the boat and get temp into the engine they seal and have run them the rest of the season.
If you need these replaced and need someone to do the work, please don't hesitate to call us.

Thanks,
John
