I did some searching/reading in the archives and the general consensus is synthetic.

Now if you really want to start a brawl, ask "Which synthetic?".

I'd suggest you do a search on the subject. It'll save you time. Many opinions on which oil to use. No definitive answer. Seems like any good quality oil and change often.

After my last thread on the subject, I decided I'm gonna use virgin olive oil

For old (1988) engines, Rotella 15-40 or strait 40.
