Twead for covering on cushions in cuddy.
I'm getting ready to have the cushions in my cuddy recovered. They are ugly as hell. Looks like a pack of lifesavers threw up on them.
I am thinking of using twead. Something in a solid. Has anyone ever used this material on their boat. Did it hold up well? Any pros or cons that anyone can think of that I might want to know?
Just not interested in doing anything in vinyl. I want something that is not cold and wet feeling all the time.

Buck check out the ultra sued in the Formulas bro. It is the SOFTEST stuff you will ever touch

I don't think that is going to be within budget on this project. Although it would be nice that's for sure.
Just looking for a material that will be affordable and feel good at the same time. Vinyl just feels so cheap.

Ultrasuede and Ultraleater are "ultra" nice but price is $80 to $100 per yard !!! One reason for stiff price is set of chemicals to qualify for use in commercial aircraft interiors.
There are some fabrics almost identical to the "Ultra's" for around $40 per yard. I found them in Atlanta at a large decorator fabric place --Dave and "Somebody".
The ultra-like stuff is the ideal way to go if anyone can crack the price barier.

Here are some pics that might put this in perspective for you guys. As you can see that color leaves A LOT to be desired.
My cabin is configured different than most too. There are no couches in it. It's like one large V-berth...that's all.

Take the cushions to the truck shop and rhino-line them some tolerable color.
I had "tweed like" covering on my cuddy cushions in my Wellcraft. Kind of a offwhite with some brownish threads every so often. Did a good job hiding stains.
Did sorta feel like a high grade burlap...
My wife has a bunch of leftover fabrics. How boat half of it in fake black mink, and half of it in leopard print suede?
She's also got a bunch of weird stretch fabric with shiny metallic looking shimmer spots on it.
She went to throw it away a while back and I told her to keep it for a special occasion.
Now's your chance...
In all seriousness, go to the Goodwill store and buy a bunch of offwhite bedsheets. Wrap em around those hideous cushions and staple it to the backside - or safety pin it - or use an air nailer - or something.
