pulley sizes
i've got another thread going on where to get a pulley
but that has me thinking
what size pulley's should be running my power steering pump and my raw water pump?
my motor runs cold now -- i'm wondering if my power steering and raw water are backwards -- and the smaller one should be running the raw water -- not the power steering ??

The raw water pump pulley is smaller than the power steering pump normally. Some Merc applications though, such as the 900SC may use a larger water pulley to reduce pressure & volume.
One thing that confuses me is: the power steering pulley is pressed on & the raw water pump is bolted on, how could they be switched???

i'm strictly referring to the crank shaft pulley -- each individual piece -- raw water, alternator and power steering pump are fine.
however my crank shaft pulley came flying off the other day and is tore up. I'm not sure if my engine guy had the right one on there or not.
The Crankshaft pulley that was on mine was a 3 groove 2 piece pulley. The inner two grooves are the same size and larger than the outer single groove. The outer single groove actually sits inside the 2 groove "dish" of the crankshaft pulley.
I've got a new pulley on the way -- but its grooves are setup so the inside one is big -- middle one is small and outside one is big -- hence "reversing" the drive size of the pulley for both the power steering and raw water pump.
perhaps a few pic's would help

Wow!! You are correct. The correct pulley has 3 grooves. The smaller grove for the sea pump is in the middle. The two other are the same size & larger. The outer one is for the power steering pump, the inner for the alternator.
Do you have one? If not, I have several spares. Let me know- just pay the shipping expense & it's yours.
