Mike, How many hrs on them???
My 525sc looked way better than I expected when I took it apart with 330 hrs. No broken springs and less wear than I expected on the cam and lifters.
I just needed to do it because a couple exhaust valves were pitted badly from the cracked Gils I had on.

I would definately do a leak down first and go from there. Mine only used a quart of oil about every 20 hrs.
I never had them check the pressures on the valve springs since I was putting in a new cam and springs anyway. I probably would not have pulled the heads either, except I knew one exhaust valve was bad. It was pitted from the leaking Gils it had on it.
If the leak down checks good, then I would just have the check the valve springs or probably just replace them.
As far as coming down to the Lake
Probably the only time I'm going to be down this year will be the ShootOut thru Labor Day. Thats all I'm planning for. Just to much goin on with the new kid coming and the new house. If all works out, I might try and sneak down for a weekend in late July.
