hull construction

I have a '89 Challenger 24 Super V that appears to have a pretty solid laminate hull (baltek core) and uses a wood floor covered by carpet. Are there any real disadvantges to this type of construction? I was thinking about moving to a Pantera. How are these constructed as compared to my boat? Thanks for any help.
