Default Bravo I noise

My bravo I makes a lot of noise while boat is hooked up to hose. The noise increases as the rpms increase. Sounds like everything is moving and banging around but prop is not turning. Yes, in netural-so prop should not be spinning. is this normal? if not, then what is making the noise. Engine is a 454 magnum. 1994 bravo I.

With the engine off, drive in nutral, spinn the prop by hand. Does it feel smooth?
Sounds like it is about to let go. Bearings may be bad or ujoints.

This is not at all unusual for the Bravos. I would check the lube for discoloration, burnt smell, and metal shavings. Any of the above would be indicators of an impending failure.

If You Spin It In Nutral All You Will Be Feeling Is The Lower Gear Set. Your Uppers Are Connected To The Flyweel!!!!!! The Noise Is Comming From The Upper Set And They Do Make Some Noise.

may be a stupid question, but do you have the drive in a down position? if it is trimmed up too high while you are sitting on the trailer, you will hear a lot of noise from the u-joint at an awkward angle.

It could Also be a bad gimbal bearing, listening with a stethoscope will help pinpoint the noise.

When my gimbal bearing (in a Brano 1) was going out, I couldn't hear the noise when it was on the trailer but could really hear it when it was in the water idling.
