eddie marine switchabel mufflers..
I have eddie marine switchable mufflers,, the ones that all the switching hardware is inside and just the tips stick out,, anyone know until what RPM these are safe to run in the closed position on a 496 H.O. ?? thanks

I wouldn't use them unless you are at idle...whay add the stress to the mufflers and risk the chance of reversion???

How much bark at idle do they take out of 496 and 502? Did you have to make the transom holes larger than stock 4"?

I have run them in closed position av wot, no problem with that.
I usally do not open them until I am well outside the fjord, so I run often at 1/2 speed with them closed. no problem with that..
The only thing that has happen is that the flaps inside has come lose and they disapear.
so I have no welded the flaps to the axle. so they dont fly out.

ooops I havemaybe explained me wrong.
I have eddiemarine silent choise, not switchable mufflers..

i have the switchable mufflers.on a pair of 496 mag HO's and i love them... they really quiet the boat alot, I have been impressed with them.. have also ran engine to around 3k rpm with them on... no problems.
