Ski Prop for Scarab 22
I have a 98 Scarab 22 with a stock carbed 454. The prop is a 25P Mirage Plus. It runs 4400 rpm and 68 mph (speedo, I haven't checked it with GPS yet) and I am very satisfied with the boat except for holeshot. I weigh 180 lbs. and it will not pull me up on a slalom ski with the driver only in the boat. I could use this prop for cruising and another for skiing. Any recommendations for a ski prop? Would a Mirage Plus 23P be a better all around prop or would I bump the rev limiter? Would it gain me a lot for holeshot - I want a lot more? What about a 4 or 5 blade? If this prop will be strictly for skiing, I won't be concerned with top end.

Walker, I have a '99 Laveycraft 21xcs w/ the 7.4 mpi. I have a Bravo 4 blade 22p, and my boat can get me up on one ski, and I weigh 215. My top end is around 63.

I have a 22ft Hammer w/ Mirage 23p, this might be what your looking for, I don't bump the rev limiter either. I think we're actually looking at the same thing.....I want a 25p and you want something with better holeshot. I'd be more then happy to work out a swap if your interested, can send pics also if you need?

Re: Ski Prop for Scarab 22
Gwalker, I also have a 22 Scarab and had the same problem. It came with a 25 mirage+. The boat went fast enough but out of the hole it was terrible, and I just didn't like how it worked all-around. Then I was told a plain not + 23 mirage was the hot set-up. Not good, I Can't even give you any numbers. It was on the boat for a total of 20 minutes. I was told that a 4 Blade would not work well on my boat from several people. I could not find anybody to talk to who had tried a Bravo. I bought a new 22 4 blade Bravo. It will pull me out of the water 215lbs with 4 people in the boat. It turned it in to a whole different boat, for the good. The only problem is I could use more pitch for top end. With the 22 I'm turning 4950@59.5mph on the gps. To fast for a stock 7.4. I would like to try a 24, I think it would still be ok out of the hole with better top end. I was also thinking of having Darin at Houston prop convert my 25+ into one of his Acclerator props. Sorry this is so long, I just wanted to give some history. If you would like to talk, pm me. Only my opinion, Doug

Re: Ski Prop for Scarab 22
For improved hole shot, acceleration I would run a Bravo I 4B. In fact I did on my 22 Scarab with a 454. It was a great all around prop. I have test props for those interested.

Funny you should mention......
I have a spare 25p Mirage in very good shape, and have been wanting to try a 23p Mirage on my 20' Cig (454/365 w/Bravo).
I'll take some pictures tomorrow if you are interested.
Thanks,
Uncle Ernie

Julie,
I might be interested, what would you recommend for top speed only? My four blade is great all-around, but I would like to get that big number (for me!!) on some days.
