496 HO Audio Alarm System
Boat was running great all weekend and then I get this invasive alarm while running at cruising speed. It was two long beeps followed by about 40 seconds apart. Water temp was fine, oil temp was fine, and no visual lack of fluids - of course the alarm stopped when I put her in neutral.
One concern was the lower unit oil so I topped her up and the alarm seemed to have stopped. However, the fill line here is unclear and ironically enough, when the boat was idling I sat in the side (boat leaned) and the alarm sounded. When I got off, it stopped. Thus, my laymen's approach tells me it is more than likely a fluid somehwere. Any ideas? Is there a 'shortcut' document that relates these audio alarms to actual problems? Any insight is appreciated...

Re: 496 HO Audio Alarm System
Sounds like the outdrive fluid reservoir bottle alarm... I tried to flush the muck out of the bottom of the bottle this past weekend after my alarm went off as well...
The fill line on my bottle is about 2/3rds up from the bottom.
