Default 502 MPI Ign. Timing

I've got twin 502 MPI's in my Formula I recently purchased. I've always run carburated big blocks as 12 deg. ign. advance without a problem after a racer told me years ago that big blocks need as much advance as they can safely handle to maximize performance. I recently had a minor repair done and told the shop to set the timing at 10 degrees. The receipt said the mech. set them at 8 deg. per spec. Am I loosing any significant power by leaving them at 8 vs. 10 or 12 deg?

All you can do is try bumping it up. If there is no power/speed increase,, there is no point in running the extra timing.
