I recently purchased a new 5.7 vortec roller for my 1990 24 condor 24º V-hull. Everything was fine until I developed a miss/breakup at 3800 rpm (previously had it up to 4800 no problem). Motor has 22 hrs on it. Went through the water in gas check, changed filters, etc. Checked timing and all wires/cap. Still have the miss/breakup. Was told that the plug gap should be closed up a bit. Also, someone mentioned a hotter coil. Any advice out there? Really would love to see how this boat performs. Also, I have a merc 14.25 x 20 with alpha 1. I hit 51 at 4800 rpm. Seems like I can get a little more aggressive with prop. I was told the boat is capable of hi 50s to low 60s. Again, any/all advice would be greatly appeciated.
