Default port engine stalling, 350 mag carb question

My port engine, 87 model 350 mag with carb (quadrajet) is stalling. Ive changed the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, set the timing, still stalling. Im no carb expert, so i need help. it (normally) idles around 700. It started stalling out, so i turned up the idle to 1100. it still stalls out. would it be in the idle jet. is that something you can take out, spray out with some carb cleaner and be all good?

btw, Its an alpha outdrive and i am 100% its not the shift interrupter.

help.

it idles at 1100, no problems, when it drops in, it kills it.

Sure sounds like the shift interrupter to me. What happens is the lower shift cable gets sticky and doesn't return to the run position quickly enough to keep the engine running. Even checking the switch won't tell you that.

I thought the interrupter worked only when shifting out of gear into neutral? Power needs to be cut so engagement dogs would release.

Thought it wasn't needed when engaging forward or reverse?

Anyhow, I'd look at the interrupter switch first then cable operation.

i replaced the lower shift cable, about a year ago, no problems whatsoever until now. it does it only after it warms up.

Bypass The Switch By Connecting Both Terminals Together Then Try To Shift. Note Keep The Rpm Down.if It Doesn't Stall Replace The Switch.note Again Once In Forward Shut The Motor Down So You Wont Do Any Damage.
Also You Might Want To Take The Switch From Your Other Motor And Try It That Way. Good Luck

ok, more info is coming back to me, havent drove in a couple weeks. it doesnt always stall when going into gear, it can go into gear, and most of the time does, be idling in gear and die. when its in gear and idling, its usually around 700 rpms, then it dies. again once its warm.

Sounds like a problem in the idle circuit since when it's cold you have the choke to get you more gas and when at 1100 rpm you're off the idle circuit. Time to pull the carb apart....I need to do two Dominators this weekend.
