Fuel Pump Housing Oil
I'm running a 500 hp and I'm replacing the fuel pump cam and shaft body which the pump bolts to. There is a oil reservoir which the cam and fuel pump arm lives in. What type of oil does Mercury recommend to run in there. A gear lube or a engine oil plus what W ?????
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Fuel Pump Housing Oil
I had both pumps replaced at 300 hours. One started to leak a small amount of fuel into the oil.
My mechanic switched the Merc Syn OD Oil with Amsoil Gear Lube.

Re: Fuel Pump Housing Oil
I would stay with the Merc hi pro grea lube as if there is a small water leak from the water pump the merc is suposed to hold it.with anything else it will go to the bottom and shoot the bearings.Drain into a cup check for water and refill every season.
