Default What is this?

I just took my prop off my bravo 1 and i noticed that there were this chunks of rubbers inside the lower where the shaft is, i got some pliers and took the rubber out also i saw in there and took off a little metal plate that looks like the bottom of an iron, im really puzzled about this finding, any help would be appreciated.

Definitely.

I was assuming you were NOT running exhaust thru the lower unit. Apparently you ARE running exhaust thru the lower unit and that is indeed an exhaust piece.

That sure looks like a flapper disk. The port is oblong like that. If you never had through prop exhaust, maybe the drive was on a boat that did?

just because you are running thu hull does not leave out that you may still be running thru prop also

do you have the Y-Pipe?
I currently run both the y-pipe and Thru hull
so its possible

I just replaced that Y-pipe flapper yesterday. That's exactly what it is.

If you do have a Y-pipe, you will want to replace the flappers. There is one on each side where the Y-pipe hoses connect the thru-hull pipe together. My flapper broke and it ended up letting water come back up through it, and filled my cylinders with water hydrolocking the motor.
