Dude (stock) Bravos Dont Have Straight Cut Gears.they Make Left And Right Gears.foward Gear Is Always The Lower Gear.when You Put The Shifter In Foward The Clutch Goes Down.the Older Weaker Gears Had The Floor Welded On The Foward Gear Only And The Clutch Milled Accordingly.the Force Of The Cone Clutch Tries To Push The Gears Apart So When The Clutch Goes Into Reverse/up It Tries To Push The Top Cap Off. Thats Y They Sell Billet Top Caps With A Stud Kit.I SEE YOU HAVE THE DRIVES SPINNING IN ALREADY AND DID PICK UP ALITTLE.MY GUESS IS WITHOUT ADDING 150HP EACH YOUR NOT GOING TO SEE ANY DRASTIC CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE.THE PICTURE LOKKS LIKE A GREAT BOAT. ENJOY IT

"foward Gear Is Always The Lower Gear."...wow,,,you learn something new everyday!...WOW not a CLUE!

if they made left and right gears...it would require the engine to rotate in the other direction!!

@ audacity

one Bravo Drive have allways a lot of pressure on the top cap on a twin installation. Only you have say it, you use a engine how rotate in the other direction !!

z superboat, what your saying about the stock bravo gears sounds reasonable but,you are misinformed. Even thought the gears are helical cut in a stock bravo, they do run one unit in reverse w/a left hand prop on a twin application and ive seen mid 90's fountains that are single powered running a stock bravo lower w/a left hand prop(i guess it worked better on some of their 27 ft hulls. Yes,it does put alot of load on the cap,but no,the upper and lower gears are equally strong. As far as mike scarabs situation he will not gain anything by going to 1.36's,he simply needs to optimise one of his sets of props or make more power,Smitty
