I tend to agree with LMARTH just a little bit. If your drives are a little too high to begin with, full tabs down will raise the stern quickly and dramatically. I had a similar situation. I've found that I can accelerate much, much better with no tabs and roll on power quickly but smoothly. The bow almost starts to get high but the better bite from the props being in deeper water gives me great acceleration to break over on top quickly. It sounds as if you really are struggling to get on plane.
For less aggressive starts, tabs and baby it. But, if I was in your situation I would get the largest diameter props available for the drives and add substantial cup to the props. Prop work is definitely where I would start. Maybe some drive extensions too.
