Default engine pre oiling systems

Does anyone have any experience with them? Are they a good idea? They are expensive. Thank you.

I have the Canton three Qt. model.I first went with the elect.valve then switched to the manual valve because I had the front crank seal go out when boating and the elect.valve will fill the tank when ever the motor is running. With the manual valve you can dump the three Qts. in then close it off and if you (like me carry six Qts. of oil in the front hole)you can get back to a port.I will say I had a bilge full of oil by the time I got back but a least I got back.

I have the kind with an electric pump. Use it everytime I start. Is it a good idea, can't hurt to start a motor that already has oil pressure. The nice thing about the units that have the electric pump is it makes for easy oil changes. I use it to pump all the oil out. Not sure who makes mine, been a while.

I also have the electric pump type. I'm with Mr. Velocity. It certainly can't hurt to start the motor up with the oil pressure already there. It makes a lot of sense when you do not use the boat often. Also, I can drain 14 quarts of oil in about a minute.

I use a Masterlube system, as the others have said it is good insurance to start a motor that has oil pressure. I looked at the electric motor style units but I did not like the fact that they pull the oil to lube your bearings from the bottom of your oil pan where the sedimate (if any)would be. The Masterlube unit can also surve as an accumulator in case or a sudden lost of pressure.
