Question Anyone with Hydromotive P5X results?

I'v been waiting to hear some random results from anyone that's ran these?

I'm looking for that extra 7mph at 3500 rpm... Is it possible??

Yes, it is possible to gain in your mid-range. Several OSO'ers have purchased and/or tried the P5-X. Hopefully they can chine in! If you want me to send you some test props the 27P and 29P are still available.

Thanks Julie, I've spoken to you several times about the new P5X's and I'm just waiting to hear results from the other guys before I purchase. I'm sure I'll end up with a pair.

I ran into a group of Eliminators from Sterling, Co. (the dealer) on the Missouri river the weekend before last and the guy with the new 28 Daytona with the Ilmor v-10's was running 5 blades. Didn't even think to ask how he liked them. Real smart, huh?? They were there for the shoot out, which was cancelled. Very nice people.

We're nearly at the end of our boating season and I'm thinking about adding some pro-chargers over the winter, then I will be ready to do some prop testing next spring. I'd still like to hear some results, specifically on the 28 daytona with twin 496 HO's.

Thanks again...

I am running 05 290 Velocity with a 27 pitch px5 on it.3500 rpm speeds went from 45 mph to 53.Top end numbers went from 82 to 83 at 5300 rpm.The motor is the 525 efi,also the other prop was a lab finish bravo 1-30 pitch.The prop just works better in every aspect.Planing acceleration,handling and efficiency..Julie was very helpfull in finding the right prop for my boat.

Thanks Julie...

We tried the 27's on a 28 daytona, no standoffs, high drive height, & they were no better that the labed bravo 30's he had.

I have 26 daytona with standoff box & very high X, with any 4 blade I could not run less than 30 mph or boat would come off plane. Tried the 27 boat would again run at low speed. Speeds at low RPM were not as good as when I had bravo I & regular drive that was 2" lower in water tho. Ran 27 but ran out of RPM on rev liminter of 5950. Speed of 101.7 I have now bought a 29, low speeds are better then the 27 but still not as good as the 30 was with the lower drive. Made some wot runs but blower belt was slipping bad & did not get any good runs in. Hopefully in 2 weeks will be able to make better comparison between the hydromotive 29 p5x & my lab bravo 30 & regular 32 bravo.

I have a 1998 382 Fastech Formula with HP 500 (carb) and no extension boxes. I currently have unlabbed 28" bravo one props, at 3500 rpm it runs 50 mph and a top speed of 75 at 5000 rpm. I would like to increase the mid range without hurting the top end. Are the P5X's the answer?

Only way to find out is try. As I had stated above friend did not see any real increase. Call Julie @ throttle up & get on the list to try some, then you will know for sure. They have a test program. Way cheaper then buying.

Turbojack;

How high are the drives on the 28 daytona? I put Imco boxes on this past winter and think I need a set of 2" shortys now. I'm concerned about getting water supply with the shortys though. I'll get a good measurement, but drives are ~even to 1" below bottom of boat. It takes a good bit of positive trim to carry the bow ~4.5 on the bluewater. Before the boxes I blew the props pretty good coming on plane, now I have minimal blow. I turn 30 bravos IN @5600 with a best of 102 on GPS. Motors are 500EFI's with raised rev limiters, otherwise stock. I plan to try a set of QIV Hydomotives just to see what they'll do.

I have a possibly stupid question. If you are getting the props really hooked up, aren't you gonna bring more stress to the drive? I would think that will stress the drive more.
